Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland.
1977 High School Diploma - Augusta Military Academy, Fort Defiance, Virginia.
1977 - 78 Community College of Baltimore, Baltimore, Maryland.
1978 - 80 BA - New Mexico Highlands University ("NMHU") Las Vegas, New Mexico. Attended school on football scholarship. Elected President of the Black Student Union for two one year terms. Selected to a NMHU’s Presidential Committee to investigate racial tension on campus.
1980 - 82 MBA - NMHU, Graduate Research Assistant.
1982 Worked as an Insurance Salesperson.
1983 - 84 Managed agents with the responsibility for hiring, training, licensing, and motivation.
1984 - 92 Worked directly with insurance managers teaching supervisory techniques.
1992 - 94 J.D. - Texas Tech University School of Law in Lubbock, Texas.
1995 Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas. Admitted to the Northern Federal Districts of Texas.
2005 Licensed to practice law in the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
2009 Licensed to practice in the United States Supreme Court.
1997 A member of the State Bar College. Member of the Amarillo Bar Association Member of the Association of Trial Lawyers Former board member of the Texas State Bar Committee for Representation of the Poor. Former member of the Texas State Bar Committee for Capital Litigation.
1994 - Trained as a mediator by the South Plains Dispute Resolution Center ("SPDRC") in Lubbock, Texas.
1995 - Trained as a family law mediator at the SPDRC.
1996-Present Member of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyer Association (“TCDLA”).

2002 The Amarillo Branch of the NAACP presented the Dr. R.W. Jones Freedom Fund Achievement Award, upon Ronald T. Spriggs "for outstanding service above and beyond the call of duty" to the Amarillo NAACP and community.

1998-Present Instructor at the Texas Criminal Trial College sponsored by TCDLA and funded by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals: Teaching new lawyers procedures for evaluating, analyzing and litigating criminal cases.
